Pleasant Acres Farm Stallions
By The 2YO EdgeMan
Monday is the kickoff of the Two-Year-Old sales season as OBS conducts its March 2025 sale. They have 814 babies cataloged from all the outstanding sires – Into Mischief, Gun Runner, Justify, Curlin, Tapit, Nyquist, Not This Time, and many others. Additionally, several of the exciting First-Year stallions such as Charlaton and Essential Quality, will be represented. However, the focus of this piece will be on the juveniles from the sires that stand at Pleasant Acres Farm in Morriston, FL.
Gunnevera (by Dialed In) ushers in his second crop of two-year-olds this year as he first stood stud in 2021. Last year, he had eight of his babies sell last year from the 11 that went through the 2YO ring. His average from that eight sold was $43,875 with the topper being a colt out of a Roar of the Tiger mare that hammered for $170K at the Fasig-Tipton Spring sale.
Last year, Gunnevera’s babies started to get warm at the MSW level late last year when he had a colt win in his debut performance at Churchill Downs on 11/29/24. In December, he had a filly win in her third start down at Gulfstream Park on 12/14/24.
He has two that will go through the OBS ring.
- Hip #631 is a colt out of an unraced Tiznow mare who has two foals of racing age and both have raced. One was twice victorious at age 3 and also notched a runner-up finish in a Gulfstream Park stakes event.
- Hip #714 is also a colt and he was thrown by an Uncle Mo dam that visited the Winner’s Circle at age 2. She’s produced five foals of racing age, three to race, all winners, with two that scored as 2YOs and both were stakes placed.
Leinster (by Majestic Warrier) has his first crop of two-year-olds on stage this year. His sales average for this crop (yearlings last year) was $36,400 which is nearly 15X his 2025 advertised stud fee for $2,500 and included a filly (by an Awesome of Course mare) that brought $150K up in NY. Leinster has cataloged five 2YOs to go through the OBS sales ring next week.
- Hip #157 is a colt named Rebel With a Cause who is out of a Mizzen Mast mare that has had one 2YO winner from two foals to race. This guy’s second dam was a stakes winner at Belmont with career earnings of nearly $200K and also threw two stakes winners who both brought home purse money north of $100K.
- Hip #432 is a bay filly by an unraced Pioneerof the Nile. This is her first foal. This gal’s second dam had three wins and a 3rd place finish in the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga.
- Hip #466 is another filly and she’s produced from a Magna Graduate mare that placed at age two. She’s thrown three other registered foals of racing age with two to race, both winners. One was a Grade 3 runner-up at Del Mar who won races at ages 2 and 3. Mom is a full sis to a mare who won four times at age 2 and 3, including a score as a juvenile at Churchill Downs in the G3 Debutant Stakes.
- Hip #505 is a chestnut filly thrown by a winning Tribal Rule mare who is a full sister to a mare that brought home over $1/2 million, including a trophy from the Charles Whittingham Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita. Mama has produced two other foals of racing age, both winners (one by Gunnevera) who has one of her wins came as a baby.
- Hip #649 is a bay filly out of a Yes It’s True mare who won at ages 2 and 5 and brought home purses totaling north of $100K. She’s tossed six foals of racing age, all to hit the track with four winners. One of those was a filly by Khozan who captured four wins at age 2 and 3, including the G3 Forward Gal Stakes at Gulfstream Park. She went on to earn a total of $380K.
