ARCADIA, Calif.— A first-out maiden winner in New York this past October, Anywho, in her first start for owners Hronis Racing, LLC, was most impressive in taking Monday’s $72,000 Santa Anita allowance feature by two lengths, providing Hronis Racing, John Sadler and Flavien Prat each their second wins on the day while getting seven furlongs in 1:22.07.

Breaking sharply from her number five post position, Anywho pressed longshot Liberal Lady up the backside, gained control leaving the quarter and came away from odds-on favorite Coffee in Bed in very impressive fashion the final sixteenth of a mile in a dazzling Southern California debut.

Purchased for $290,000 out of a Keeneland sale in November following her Oct. 23 maiden score going seven panels at Aqueduct Oct. 23, Sadler explained his feeling was the daughter of Bolt d’Oro would improve with added distance.

“We thought being by Bolt d’Oro she’d run around two turns,” Sadler said. “She came through the November sale at Keeneland and when she got here, she got off the plane with a 104-degree fever. She got sick, and we had to give her some time. Now, she’s getting ready for the spring/summer, so this was very encouraging today.”

Off at 9-2 in a field of six sophomore fillies, Anywho paid $11.80, $4.60 and $3.60.

Out of the Zensational mare Fancy and Flashy, Anywho picked up $43,200 for the win, increasing her earnings to $95,450.

Off at 4-5 with Mike Smith, Coffee in Bed appeared to have dead aim on the winner a furlong out, but was no match late, returning $3.00 and $2.10 while finishing 5 ½ lengths in front of Getthemoney.

Ridden by Hector Berrios, Getthemoney was off at 7-2 and paid $3.00 to show, finishing 2 ¼ lengths in front of Liberal Lady.

Fractions on the race were 21.92, 44.64 and 1:08.89.

Live racing will resume on Friday with first post time for an eight-race card at 1 p.m.
