LEXINGTON, Ky.—The February Digital Sale closed Tuesday evening with 157 horses sold for $4,965,400. The sale averaged $31,626 with a clearance rate of nearly 80 percent. The catalogue offered horses of racing age, racing/broodmare prospects, two-year-olds in training, broodmares (including mares with foals at foot), and short yearlings. More than 1,000 prospective buyers registered to bid.
A selection of two-year-olds in training were offered for the first time on the digital platform, of which eight of 13 sold for $585,000 with an average of $73,000. In this proof-of-concept endeavor, two-year-olds in training accounted for two of the top six horses sold in the entire auction. Offerings were catalogued with traditional virtual inspections in addition to untimed gallop videos.
The sale topper was a $250,000 colt by Yaupon (hip 42), purchased by Shane Yeager from the consignment of De Meric Sales. From the first crop of Uncle Mo’s Grade 1 winning son Yaupon, the New York-bred colt was offered as a two-year-old in training. The second foal of four-time stakes winner Frosty Margarita, the sale topper sold off a traditional virtual inspection and video of an untimed gallop at De Meric Farm in Ocala, Florida.

Ocean Mermaid (GB) (hip 10), a four-year-old daughter of Kingman (GB), sold for $210,000 to RWB from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, Ocean Mermaid earned a timely update on Friday, February 21, when she won her 2025 debut at Tampa Bay Downs.
Dare to Fly (hip 218), a three-year-old daughter of Daredevil, sold for $210,000 to Agave Racing Stable from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, Dare to Fly earned a huge update when breaking her maiden on Monday, February 24, at Oaklawn Park.
Intrepid Daydream (hip 39), a multiple stakes winner by Jess’s Dream, sold for $190,000 to Mulholland Springs from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Offered as a broodmare prospect, Intrepid Daydream is a graded stakes placed multiple stakes winning earner of more than $400,000.
Awakening (hip 26), a three-year-old daughter of Curlin, sold for $180,000 to Winning Direction from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Stonestreet Stables. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect, Awakening is out of multiple graded stakes winner Vertical Oak and is a half-sister to Grade 1 placed stakes winner Giant Mischief. Awakening broke her maiden on February 16 at Sam Houston Race Course.
Great Notion colt out of Fly Girl (hip 41), a two-year-old in training, sold for $180,000 to Michael Golden from the consignment of Cary Frommer, agent. In addition to a traditional virtual inspection and consignor interview, the Maryland-bred colt sold off video of an untimed gallop at Aiken Training Track in Aiken, South Carolina.
“This was a fantastic sale from beginning to end,” said Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales Leif Aaron. “It was a great market for buyers and sellers. More than 1,000 registered bidders and horses that were very well represented. The two-year-olds in training were very encouraging with eight of 13 sold, including our sale topper. We learned a lot about what worked and how to move forward with that segment of the market.”
