OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Friday’s card at Aqueduct Racetrack will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $29,050 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Sunday’s 10-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $645.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence began in Race 5 as the Christophe Clement-trained Capital Idea [No. 1, $6.40] captured a one-turn mile maiden for sophomores with Trevor McCarthy up, which was followed in Race 6 by the Jose Francisco D’Angelo-conditioned Blake B. [No. 1, $7.40] taking a one-turn mile claiming tilt for older horses under Madison Olver.
Mel’s Baby Sister [No. 9, $12.40] graduated in Race 7, a state-bred maiden special weight for sophomore fillies, with Dylan Davis in the irons for trainer Melanie Giddings. Race 8, a six-furlong claiming sprint for older fillies and mares, went to the Chris Englehart-trained and Manny Franco-piloted Midtown Rose [No. 5, $20.40].
The co-featured Race 9, the $100,000 Rego Park for state-bred sophomores, saw Mischief Joke [No. 2, $5.90] prevail with Davis up as trainer Mike Maker secured his second stakes win on the card after taking the $100,000 Say Florida Sandy in Race 4 with Rotknee.
With only three horses covered in the Race 10 finale, a seven-furlong starter optional-claiming sprint for sophomores, Lonesome Boy [No. 8, $26.80] staved off the late bid of mutuel favorite Augustine Red to trigger the carryover. Lonesome Boy, trained by Ernesto Padilla-Preciado, was ridden to victory by Adam Bowman.
Friday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 3 at 1:50 p.m. Eastern. First post on the 8-race card is 12:50 p.m.
