Worst Kept Secret at Gulfstream Park

We have been hearing for a few weeks there is a big change to the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park. Now the rumbling is from horsemen as well.

We hear an announcement is looming changing the Pegasus World Cup to a $3 million dollar purse invitational race with no Lasix permitted. This would be a complete departure from the slot purchasing purse structure the race has had since its inception. We hear the Pegasus Turf will have similar conditions with a $1 million dollar purse.

Considering the race is approaching fast, and ticket sales are underway, if this is indeed on the menu for this year a formal announcement should be coming soon. If not we can file this in the rampant rumor pile. That said, we do believe this is the plan.
