Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance
Woodbine Release
TORONTO, Ont.— Woodbine Aftercare Day, in recognition of Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, will be celebrated at the track on Saturday, October 5.
Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) is a nonprofit organization based in Kentucky that accredits and awards grants to aftercare organizations that retire and rehome Thoroughbreds.
“Woodbine Racetrack is honoured to host Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance for Woodbine Aftercare Day,” said Martha Wakely, Senior Manager of Thoroughbred Racing Operations, Woodbine Entertainment.
“We have a strong community of accredited aftercare supporters here at Woodbine, and this event is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the incredible work being done for Thoroughbreds both on and off the track.”
TAA representatives will be at Woodbine to present the Nearctic Stakes (G2), Saturday’s feature race that is accompanied by the bet365 Dance Smartly Stakes (G2), the HPIbet Singspiel Stakes (G3), and the bet365 Algonquin Stakes on the card.
The groom of the Nearctic Stakes (G2) winner and of the best turned out horse in each stakes race on Saturday will receive a TAA giftbag sponsored by local owner and breeder Josham Farms (Ted Burnett).
Woodbine’s local TAA accredited organization, Longrun Retirement Society, will be at the track on November 16 for their annual calendar giveaway.
The wellbeing of horses on and off the track is always a top priority for Woodbine. Check out Woodbine’s Horse Welfare webpage for more information here.
