ARCADIA, Calif.—Window Shopping was enjoying a relaxing Sunday morning for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella after earning her first stakes win in Saturday’s GII Summertime Oaks.

Owned by Perry and Ramona Bass, Window Shopping was a decisive 1 ¾-length winner of the Summertime under a patient ride from jockey Hector Berrios. She returned $9.00 as the 7-2 third choice in a seven-horse field. The winning time was 1:45.01 for 1 1/16 miles.
At about 8 a.m. this morning, Mandella reported Window Shopping “isn’t out of bed yet” but that all appeared well.

By Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, Window Shopping has now won two of four starts and earned $208,700. She debuted on turf last November at Del Mar and was sixth. Given the remainder of the year off, Window Shopping resurfaced in a one-mile maiden race here March 17 that was taken off the turf and moved to the main track. She romped by 16 ½ lengths.
Last out in the GII Santa Anita Oaks April 8, Window Shopping had a troubled trip under Berrios and finished third.

Mandella exuded confidence in Window Shopping ahead of the Summertime and she did not disappoint.

“He rode her really well and she ran really well,” Mandella said.
Next up will likely be a return to the turf for Window Shopping. With limited opportunities at Del Mar for 3-year-old fillies on dirt, Mandella said she would likely be pointed to the GI Del Mar Oaks going 1 1/8 miles on grass Aug. 19.
