Undefeated Juvenile Pointed for Kentucky Jockey Club (G2)

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $250,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – C2 Racing Stable LLC and La Milagrosa Stable LLC’s White Abarrio rolled to an impressive four-length victory Friday at Gulfstream Park, earning a run next in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) Nov. 27 at Churchill Downs.

The Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained White Abarrio ($2.60) was privately purchased by his current connections following an extremely impressive debut victory at Gulfstream Sept. 24, when he closed from off the pace to win going away by 6 ¾ lengths in a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds.

“We were trying to use this race to get to the Jockey Club in Kentucky next. That’s the plan now,” Joseph said. “Obviously, they have a good series here in the winter. Hopefully, we can use Churchill as a building block of races here in the winter.”

White Abarrio was allowed to set a leisurely pace before kicking in through the stretch to cover the mile in 1:36.74 and galloping out strongly under Edgard Zayas.

“He was very impressive first time out. Stretching out to a mile, he was equally as impressive today,” Joseph said. “You couldn’t ask a horse to win as easily as he did today.”

The son of Race Day, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Tapit who registered an allowance win at Gulfstream before finishing third in the 2015 Fred W. Hooper (G3), was purchased at the OBS March sale for $40,000 by his former connections.

“He’s been classy from Day 1. The people we bought him from told us he’s a pretty uncomplicated horse, and that’s how he is,” Joseph said. “Working him the first time was easy. The second time it was a quicker work, and we realized how good he was then. Today, the pace was easy and he relaxed so good. That was a good attribute to see, and when Edgard asked him, he finished off in a flash.”

Joseph saddled three winners on Friday’s program, including debuting Tapit to the Wire ($7), a 3-year-old son of Tapiture overcame traffic to win a six-furlong maiden special weight race going away by three lengths under J. C. Diaz Jr.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $250,000

Saturday’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $250,000 at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Friday for the 10th racing day following a $461,035.47 jackpot payoff Oct. 9.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including the $60,000 Brethren Juvenile Fillies, a mile-and-70-yard stakes on Tapeta for Florida-breds, in Race 6 and the $60,000 Ocala Stud Juvenile Sprint, a seven-furlong race for Florida-breds, in Race 8.

Hall of Famer Mark Casse-trained Lemieux, the 7-5 morning-line favorite, will make her debut on an all-weather track following an off-the-board finish in the Pocahontas (G3) at Churchill.

Kelly Breen-trained Just Leo, a full brother to multiple graded-stakes winner Firenze Fire, is rated as the 3-1 morning-line favorite who won his last two starts at Monmouth. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Make It Big will be making his stakes debut after scoring an 8 ½-length romp in his recent debut at Gulfstream Park.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
