Lady Eli was special from the start.
A year or two ago I mentioned her to her pilot Irad Ortiz Jr., and he just said ” I love her “. I think many of us did but perhaps nobody more than trainer Chad Brown who along with the team he put together literally worked around the clock to save her life.
That love and care not only saved her but allowed her to make history as being the only Grade 1 winning filly to not only beat double laminitis, but return to race as the same level she did before with as much if not more heart, grit and determination.
Regardless of what happens on Saturday, you’ll be watching a champions final race in Lady Eli.
Man oh man, she was good.
