BERKELEY, Calif.—The 2022 Fall Meet Closing Day feature on Sunday at Golden Gate Fields, the $50,000 Miss America Stakes, attracted 10 filly and mare routers. The winner was a local entrant with sharp form and a strong will to win.

Tiz An Edventure was claimed for $25,000 in April by trainer Jack Steiner, who co-owns the 4-year-old filly with Randy Marriott. Heading into the Miss America, Tiz An Edventure had wracked off five wins from six starts since moving to the Steiner barn. Sent off at odds of 5-2, Tiz An Edventure sat in midfield before launching a rally on the grandstand side down the stretch. She took the lead at the furlong pole and edged away for a 2-length score. With the victory, winning jockey Frank Alvarado picked up his fourth win on the Closing Day Sunday card. Tiz An Edventure completed the mile and a sixteenth on Tapeta in 1:44.62 seconds.

Tiz An Edventure paid $7.40 to win, $3.40 to place, and $2.80 to show. 2-time Golden Gate Fields stakes winner Natural Colour was sent off as the 9-5 post time favorite and settled for second with what race watchers would deem a very respectable effort. She paid $3.20 to place and $3.00 to show. Clockstrikestwelve, who was squeezed at the break and sat at the back of the pack for the first three-quarters of the race, rallied for third and paid $8.20 to show. Shezaghost ran fourth followed by Northwest Factor, La Vikina, Sugar Fix, Strike At Dawn, Cowboys Daughter Taranta.

Tiz An Edventure boasts a lifetime record of 9 wins and 2 third place finishes from 17 lifetime starts. With the Miss America Stakes win, the daughter of Tiznow improved her career earnings to $177,750. Tiz An Edventure was bred in Kentucky by Pat Madden LLC.

Golden Gate Fields takes a two-week hiatus before returning on Monday, December 26 for Opening Day of the Winter/Spring meet, which runs through mid-June of 2023. On the day after Christmas, Golden Gate Fields offers a 2023 calendar giveaway to all fans in attendance.
