Riyadh, Saudi Arabia –  The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia has partnered with Kildare-based Equine MediRecord (EMR) to deploy its advanced digital equine welfare platform across all races at the Saudi Cup 2026 meeting, a two-day festival highlighted by the world’s richest horse race.

As part of the initiative, Equine MediRecord will provide an Arabic-language version of its platform, enabling Saudi-based trainers and veterinarians to efficiently submit veterinary and welfare documentation required for horses competing at the event. The localized system is designed to streamline compliance with the Saudi Cup’s equine welfare and integrity protocols while supporting international participants racing in the Kingdom.

The EMR platform will underpin veterinary and welfare oversight for the Group 1 Saudi Cup, allowing the complete veterinary history of each horse to be captured digitally and stored securely. This centralized approach enhances equine welfare standards while supporting critical anti-doping and integrity measures. Trainers, veterinarians, and entrants will use the system to comply with the latest regulatory, medication, and welfare requirements, with all information submitted electronically prior to racing.

Data integrity is protected through Equine MediRecord’s proprietary technology, which prevents records from being altered once entered. The platform ensures that all horses are fully cleared under the Saudi Cup’s welfare and safety protocols before competing, providing transparency and confidence for regulators, connections, and racing officials.

Since its launch, Equine MediRecord has seen rapid international adoption and now supports many of the world’s leading racing and equestrian organizations, including the British Horseracing Authority, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Thoroughbred Owners of California, Racing Victoria, Pegasus World Cup, Preakness Stakes, and Breeders’ Cup World Championships. In 2022, EMR received a multi-million-dollar investment from Merits Holdings, joining its Business Infusions group, the largest equine veterinary software organization globally.

For the Saudi Cup 2026, EMR has also developed new functionality that automatically notifies trainers worldwide of applicable welfare, safety, and integrity requirements, clearly outlining the documentation needed to secure clearance to compete at the meeting.

The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia continues to lead the region in the adoption of progressive equine welfare and anti-doping initiatives. As global scrutiny of equine sport increases, Equine MediRecord’s Irish-developed technology is expected to see wider uptake among elite racing organizations seeking best-in-class welfare and integrity solutions.

Pierce Dargan, Chief Executive Officer of Equine MediRecord, said:

“We are delighted to partner once again with the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia and to support the highest standards of equine welfare and transparency at the Saudi Cup. Our Arabic-language platform, developed with the support of the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia, will make compliance easier for local trainers and veterinarians while maintaining the same rigorous standards for all international participants. We believe this collaboration will encourage wider adoption of our system across the region.”
