WHOOP Joins Breeders’ Cup To Enhance Fan Viewing Experience During World Championships

Innovative Health Monitoring Technology to Debut Live Human Performance Data During NBC Sports’ Coverage

Offering Fans an Unprecedented Inside Look at the Intensity of Thoroughbred Racing at its Highest Level

Breeders’ Cup Release

DEL MAR, Calif. –At this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the pulse of the competition won’t just be felt – it will be measured. WHOOP, the human performance company, will join the international festival of racing at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Oct. 31-Nov. 1 to provide real-time heart-rate data for the sport’s top connections—jockeys, owners, and trainers—as they chase glory at the highest level.

Recognized as one of the most prestigious meetings in global sport, the 2025 World Championships will again feature 14 Grade 1 races and more than $34 million in purses and awards, bringing together the sport’s top connections on racing’s biggest stage. Through WHOOP Live on NBC, viewers will see heart rate insights from participating jockeys, owners, and trainers in the heat of competition – revealing the intensity, resilience, and mental fortitude required at the upper echelons of international racing.

“Every heartbeat at the Breeders’ Cup tells a story of adrenaline, focus, and the relentless drive to win,” said Justin McDonald, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Breeders’ Cup Limited. “This innovative partnership with WHOOP gives fans a true window into the physical and mental performances that define championship moments for our jockeys, owners, and trainers.”

WHOOP is committed to helping athletes across all disciplines unlock peak performance. The company has worked extensively with top professional athletes to study recovery, strain, and sleep patterns—revealing that consistency and preparation are key drivers of elite results.

“We’re proud to partner with the Breeders’ Cup to showcase the world’s best at the peak of their preparation and performance,” said John Sullivan, Chief Marketing Officer at WHOOP. “Bringing WHOOP Live data into the broadcast will give fans a new perspective on what it takes to perform under intense pressure. By adding physiological context to the effort, composure, and human performance behind every race, we’re helping connect viewers even more deeply to the highest stakes environments in sports.”

In a recent study of professional golfers, WHOOP found that higher recovery scores and greater sleep consistency directly correlated with better performance metrics. That same science applies to the horse racing world – where focus, endurance, and mental clarity are crucial for success on race day.

“Performance isn’t about what you do once – it’s about what you do consistently,” added Sullivan. “From the elite participants at the Breeders’ Cup to everyday athletes, WHOOP helps everyone understand how recovery drives results.”

The 2025 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, California, with coverage on NBC and Peacock featuring WHOOP Live integrations.
