WILMINGTON, Del.— Cheyenne Stable Style Points tops a field of ten entered in the $150,000 Christiana Stakes this Saturday. The mile and an eighth turf affair for 3-year-old fillies has been carded as the sixth race with an approximate post time of 3:00 pm.
In her last, the daughter of Oscar Performance notched a nose victory in a mile and three sixteenths turf allowance at Keeneland on April 25. Previously, the Kentucky-bred trained by Christophe Clement ran second in the mile and a sixteenth Grade III Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs on March 9. She has a career record of two wins and two seconds from five starts with earnings of $165,105.
The Kerri Raven owned and trained A Primera Vista could be peaking at the right time. The daughter of Competitive Edge has won her last three versus allowance company including a ¾-length score against older fillies and mares in a mile and a sixteenth turf allowance at Delaware Park on June 8. The Minnesota-bred broke her maiden last year at Delaware Park in her career debut going five furlongs on the grass. Her career record is five wins, a second and a third from ten starts with earnings of $147,175.
“I am really happy with the way she is coming into the race,” said trainer Kerri Raven “She has put on some really good weight, she is focused and right now she is all systems go. After we broke her maiden, we sent her to Minnesota for the state-bred $100,000 stake race. I drove her and it took two days to get there. Even though we got there a week before, I think the 1,100-mile trip took it out of her. After that, the dirt races kind of played out for her and we were still trying to figure her out, but the grass is definetly her game. This is a great spot for her. She is just coming off two victories against older mares and now she has chance to race against her own age and for more money. I am not sure where will go after the Christiana with her, but we are hoping she opens up even more options for us. Every day she gets bigger and stronger, so we are looking forward to this opportunity.”
