DEL MAR, Calif.—Tyler Sprague from Las Vegas, NV, turned his $4,000 live-money starting bankroll into $26,600 in Del Mar’s signature two-day event, the 22nd Annual Summer Challenge. Tyler went all-in on the last race including a $9,500 win wager, resulting in his final total, which bested many of the sharpest handicappers from around the country.
The second-place finisher was Brian Chenvert from Rogers, MN with $22,142 and third place went to Dylan Donnelly of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, with $18,510.
Sprague claimed the win over 117 total entries and receives $81,000 cash plus a $10,000 2025 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) entry. He also receives a $4,000 Pacific Classic Betting Challenge (PCBC) entry played at Del Mar or online through TVG.com on Saturday, August 30. All in all, he netted $121,600 in cash and prizes, including bankroll winnings.
Contestants competed on-track at Del Mar in the two-day high-stakes Challenge offering $234,000 in total prizes. The top 12 finishers receive a combination of prizes including cash, seven $10,000 BCBC entries, National Horseplayers Championship spots and entries to the August 30 PCBC.
