I am not saying I blame him, but Sol Kumin is obviously trying to but a piece of a Kentucky Derby winner. Unfortunately that process does not have the best track record.
Kumin purchased interests in Justify and Audible, neither of which have the points to get into the race as of today. You can rest assured the price was inflated and although both horses look promising you can just ask Sheik Mohammed how buying a Derby works out.
Bob Baffert did it with War Emblem for The Thoroughbred Corp. but that’s Bob. This time he is the trainer of Justify and on the selling side so to speak. That’s usually the side to be on but not always. Just ask the bagel guys who sold a Derby winner. Best of luck to Sol, you just never know.
