ELMONT, N.Y. – Saturday’s card at Belmont Park will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $51,969 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race card.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $1,082.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence kicked off in Race 4 with the Tom Albertrani-trained Itsakeyper [No. 1, $15] scoring $25,000 claiming victory sprinting six furlongs on the inner turf under Junior Alvarado. Irad Ortiz, Jr. piloted his fourth winner of the day in Race 5 when the Jorge Abreu trainee Alice Kramden [No. 2, $7.20] graduated for a $30,000 tag.
Jose Ortiz engineered a winning ride aboard Rosebug [No. 7, $6.60*] in Race 6 for Hall of Fame conditioner Bill Mott one race before Lady of Thoroton [No. 8, $25] provided the biggest upset in the sequence with a rallying turf starter allowance score in Race 7. Katie Davis was aboard for trainer Chris Englehart.
The Jim Chapman-trained Drew’s Gold [No. 6, $9.20] remained undefeated in four starts when drawing clear to a 4 3/4-length victory under Jose Gomez in Race 8, the featured $150,000 Gold Fever.
With no horses covered in Race 9, the Flavien Prat-piloted Reflexivity [No. 10, $15.40] graduated in a seven-furlong turf maiden for four-time Eclipse Award-winning conditioner Chad Brown to close out the sequence.
Saturday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 6 at 3:40 p.m. Eastern and features the Grade 3, $200,000 Peter Pan in the opening leg and the Grade 3, $175,000 Runhappy in Race 9. First post on the 11-race card, which is highlighted by the Grade 1, $600,000 Man o’ War in Race 5, is 1 p.m.
