Full Qualifier Attempt Number One

Kevin Gazzale

Welllllllllll, well it’s the Big Show! I finally did it, it’s embarrassing that it took this long but I finally did it. I have made the full qualifier. Now is the time to take some shots with some bombs and say a prayer. It feels personal that Horse Players selected zero Santa Anita races tomorrow. We will be picking winners at Gulfstream, Aqueduct, Tampa Bay. I have no doubt in my ability, however I will need a substantial amount of luck. Unbelievable weather tomorrow all across the country so there will be no excuses. Now here’s the picks, double choke slam coming up.

GP Race 6 – 4 Astin Style is a speed in a really poor quality field, he carried speed well last out so I’m banking on him continuing that and then some.

Tampa Race 7 – 4 Rigel, great figures all around and gets some horses in here off long layoffs or some horses that may have just soured. It pained me to not take 10 Tok Tok here, I have had this horse in my virtual stable since his troubled trip at Keeneland many a falls ago.

GP Race 7 – 2 Navajo Warrior, Gosger is the class of this field coming off of his 3YO season. Warrior has a race under his belt and appears to be improving and has the figures to take down Gosger if he’s a little slow after the layoff.

Tampa Race 8 – 3 Mr In Personal, 30/1 ML but this horse last out was a freight train in the stretch and got up late at 23/1. Last out he was first time lasix and improved, he gets lasix again here. There is a ton of speed signed on here and I’m going to take a shot here.

GP Race 8 – 7 Pretty Lavish, she gets the right post and the right set up in here. She’ll be running from the back and there’s a lot of speed signed on here especially in the outside posts. She is 3rd off layoff in her 4YO season, great spaced turf workouts. I’ll likely bet real money on this horse too, great spot.

Aqu Race 7 – 6 Bramito has consistent figures and has been off since January. The pace of this race can heat up and I think Bramito will have the stamina to mow these down late.

GP Race 9 – 8 To The Eastside, great late pace figures for a late runner who will likely get a setup with a deep field of front runners in here. 5 Swashbuckle was intriguing at that price but he just turned 8 and I’m not banking on improvement from an 8YO, If Swashbuckle wins you’ll know where to find me.

Aqu Race 8 – 7 Brazenly, I don’t often take older horse hoping they improve or stay steady but I’ll make the exception for Brazenly. He had a serious late kick last out, after that race he hopped right back on the work tab firing out solid works. He’ll get the pace he needs in here, lets see if he picks up his feet.

GP Race 10 – 3 I C Light is a burner here on the inside who can just hit the front and go. 8/1 ML, coming off a dissapointing stretch out to a mile so we may actually get all of the 8/1. If you look at the times this horse is almost 1 second faster than other winners in here.

Aqu Race 9 – 2 Golden Symphony, it pains me to select this horse but not only is he the horse to beat but he gets a perfect pace set up in here and should be all alone on the lead.

GP Race 11 – 3 Amelia, should be able to get the distance here and should ebe close up which you have to be on the synth. 10/1 ML could get this one home or in the number for a decent price.

GP Race 12 – 6 Timing, speed horse in a pretty poor field that finally carried his main speed into the stretch last out. Lots of late runners in here who haven’t really shown great ability to this point. I’ll take Timing to take them all the way.

There we have it, follow along with me and hopefully I punch my ticket to October. What if we just get every pick right?
