RIP Charles Cella

December 6, 2017

Charles Cella the long time owner of Oaklawn Park and a major figure in Thoroughbred Racing has passed away at 81.

Mr. Cella was a traditionalist and that was reflected in Oaklawn Park and how he ran it. I spent a few years there and got to know many of there people who worked under Mr. Cella running the facility. They always treated me well, and had a genuine interest in the betterment of the sport and treatment of the bettors and fans alike. I don’t doubt that came from Mr. Cella himself and I am sure he’ll be missed.
