Rick Dutrow is back on the grounds with stalls in New York at Belmont Park and has an active trainers license
Past the Wire first reported on February 27th, 2023 that Rick Dutrow was coming back and was at that point allowed to apply for a trainers license and stalls in New York. That has now happened and Dutrow has been granted a trainers license in New York and has been allotted stalls at Belmont Park. This followed a 10-year ban from racing in what was a heavily contested and controversial case covered in detail at Past The Wire and throughout the horse racing world.
We spoke to Rick Dutrow and he is just anxious and excited to get back to doing what he loves and has devoted his life to, training and taking care of horses. Dutrow has over 1800 wins, and over 87 million in earnings on his resume. He’s a Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic winning trainer along with 2 other Breeders’ Cup races, a Preakness, and multiple Graded stakes. Rick Dutrow has never had a horse break down under his care, another noteworthy distinction and testament to his horsemanship.
