Gulfstream Park Release

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $125,000 Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Friday for the fourth racing day following an Aug. 3 mandatory payout.

Tickets with all six winners were each worth $13,435.14.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, featuring the $70,000 Frolic’s Revenge in Race 8 and the $75,000 Sheer Drama Handicap in Race 10.

Steve Dwoskin-trained Starship Impulsive will seek her fourth straight victory while coming off a 2 ½-month layoff in the Frolic’s Revenge, a mile overnight handicap for fillies and mares on turf. The 3-year-old daughter of Improbable, who has won the Honey Ryder and Martha Washington in her last two starts, will face older rivals for the first time while carrying 118 pounds, including returning Leonel Reyes. She will be in receipt of five pounds from highweight Lets Go Koko, who will also make a bid for a fourth win in a row.

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. will be well-represented in the Sheer Drama, a seven-furlong handicap for fillies and mares, by Haulin Ice, the 127-pound highweight who has won her last four starts, and Claret Beret, who will seek her third-straight victory since being transferred to Gulfstream’s leading trainer. Claret Beret, who will be in receipt of three pounds from her stablemate, has been installed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite on the strength of a close-up second in the Chicago (G2) at Churchill Downs and a 19 ¾-length victory in the Mo’ Green Handicap in her previous start at Gulfstream. Haulin Ice, who won the Vagrancy (G3) at Aqueduct two starts back, is coming off a 3 ¼-length victory in the Musical Romance Handicap at Gulfstream.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
