Racetrack tales and then some, meet Ray Destefano

July 15, 2021

If there ever was a Zelig or Damon Runyon type character from the racetrack Ray Destefano fits the bill pretty good. You name it Ray has seen and done it on the racetrack, and even off it.

In this series of racetrack tales you will meet Ray. Ray is one of two people who cradled the great Ruffian when she was euthanized following The Great match Race with Foolish Pleasure.

This is just the beginning in a series of talks with Ray where he shares some of the best racetrack stories and history you will ever hear. In this first episode amongst other things hear about the time the track Vet for NYRA shocked himself with a buzzer or battery. You just can’t make this stuff up, and you won’t find anything like it anywhere but here at Past the Wire.

Sit back and enjoy the show, there is so much more to come:

One of the best articles on the state of emergency of our industry. Hits the nail on the head. If we want to save racing we must band together and actively work to save it. If we want the industry to die...we can continue with what we're doing.
