National Horseplayers Championship Qualifier Scheduled At Hialeah Park On Sunday, January 12, 2020 Grand Prize Is One NHC Seat In Las Vegas Finals In 2020 Or 2021, $10,000 Awarded On Site; $300 Entry Fee For Tour Members, Designated Races At Gulfstream Park, Aqueduct, Tampa BayHialeah, FL / November 21, 2019 – For the first time in the long and storied history of this iconic South Florida landmark, Hialeah Park will host a qualifying tournament for the National Horseplayers Championship. The qualifier will be held in the Champions Simulcast Center & Sports Bar located on the second floor of the clubhouse at Hialeah Park, located at 2200 East 4th Avenue, on Sunday January 12, 2020.Handicappers can purchase their entries in the qualifying tournament by visiting the Hialeah Park web site at www.hialeahparkcasino.com or by calling (305) 758-8681. Scheduled as a “first chance/last chance” event on the 2020 National Horseplayers Championship docket, the grand prize will be one seat in the NHC finals in Las Vegas, including hotel and airfare.The winner will have the option of choosing a seat in either the 2020 finals set for February 7-9 at Bally’s Hotel & Casino or in the 2021 finals.Under rules established by the NHC, participants in the Hialeah Park tourney must be 2019 tour members to earn a seat in the 2020 finals or 2020 tour members to earn a seat in the 2021 finals. The $300 entry fee for current NHC tour members will cover a $200 live bankroll for wagering on designated races at Gulfstream Park, Aqueduct, and Tampa Bay Downs, and $100 for cash prizes.A total of $10,000 will be awarded on site at the conclusion of the Hialeah Park qualifier, with $5,000 going to the winner, $2,500 to the runner-up, $1,500 to the third-place finisher, and $1,000 to the fourth-place finisher.Only current National Horseplayers Championship tour members will be eligible to win the grand prize. The event will also be open to non-members and they will be eligible to win the cash prizes.As an incentive, the NHC will offer first-time tour members $25 off the regular $50 membership fee if they register for the Hialeah Park qualifier and submit a $325 entry fee.
