PTW SEC Round Up: Breeders’ Cup Weekend

By Past The Wire Staff October 28, 2026 2 min read Save Article

We finally did it, we finally finished an undefeated week. 4 wins, 3 of which were no sweat no doubters which felt pretty good. The SEC has truly been incredible football in terms of parity, competitiveness, and quality. The teams are for the most part very good, there are no undefeated teams left and don’t be surprised if a 9-3 SEC team slips into the playoff this year. Let’s jump into last week’s recap and look ahead to Week 9.

Week 8 Recap

LSU with another dominant performance. Auburn legit stinks. Taking down #1 Georgia was such a fluke that you cannot put stock in that game.

OU/Miss State Under was no sweat. Unforatunely Kamario Taylor was ruled out for the year post game and likely ruins any shot Miss State has of doing any thing meaningful this year.

South Carolina made us work for this one, they went up 14-0 and then proceeded to give up 21 straight. They battled though and made some crucial defensive plays that gave them a chance to claw back in.

UCF was a no doubter and a winner outright. BYU is not the #2 team in the country.

Week 9 Card

Arkansas +10, this is a mix of me totally flipping on Arkansas as they have slowly begun to improve and I don’t think numbers have adjusted yet and I do think Mizzou is still overrated.

Florida/UGA Under 54.5, UGA’s defense is solid enough to me to be able to shut down this Florida run game and force them to win through the air which could lead to some empty drives.

Non-SEC Langiappe

USC +7, I watched the Ohio State back up play against Indiana and man did he suck. This is a gotta have it spot for USC with increasing noise that Lincoln Riley is on his way out.

Indiana -20.5, this feels like a major step up for Minnesota and I think it results and an absolute thrashing.

Season Record: 24-19-1, +3.1u

Good Luck if you’re tailing!
