SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Thursday’s card during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at Saratoga Race Course will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $55,492 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Wednesday’s 10-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $128.50 to bettors who selected 4-of-6 winners correctly.
Wednesday’s Pick 6 sequence of exclusively New York-bred action kicked off in Race 5 with a 56-1 upset from Outsource [No. 7, $115.50] in a 1 1/16-mile inner turf allowance with Hall of Famer John Velazquez aboard for trainer Tom Morley.
Irad Ortiz, Jr. was aboard the next winner with the Jorge Abreu-conditioned Kay Cup [No. 7, $4.80*] capturing the seven-furlong Bouwerie, in Race 6. The next race saw Jose Ortiz navigate Clear Conscience [No. 5, $22.60] to victory in the 1 1/16-mile Kingston on the Mellon turf for Hall of Famer Mark Casse, in Race 7.
In Race 8, Romero Maragh piloted Bernietakescharge [No. 9, $20] to a game victory over the favored Sterling Silver in the nine-furlong Critical Eye for trainer Domenick Schettino. In Race 9, the 1 1/16-mile inner turf Mount Vernon, Spinning Colors [No. 2, $16.20] cruised to victory under Velazquez for trainer Mark Hennig.
With the carryover guaranteed heading into the Race 10 finale, a 1 1/16-mile maiden on the Mellon turf, Coach Case [No. 4, $7.10*] prevailed with Dylan Davis in the saddle to earn trainer Miguel Clement his first victory.
Thursday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 5 at approximately 2:52 p.m. Eastern and includes the Grade 2 Intercontinental [Race 7] and the Grade 3 Poker [Race 9].
