SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — If you are looking for a fun activity for your family at home, The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is currently offering a variety of online educational programming and social interaction for people of all ages, including the popular Foal Patrol, #HistoryThroughArt, and a downloadable 3rd Grade STEM packet.
FOAL PATROL
Season 3 of Foal Patrol (www.foalpatrol.com) is in full swing, featuring six mares and the champion stallion Gun Runner. This one-of-a-kind interactive web project provides viewers a unique opportunity to learn about the breeding and foaling process and watch live as the mares give birth.
So far in Season 3, Magical World (Three Chimneys Farm, Versailles, Ky.), New Money Honey (Indian Creek Farm, Paris, Ky.), and Hall of Fame member Ashado (Gainsborough Farm, Versailles, Ky.) have delivered foals. Three more mares – Vaulcluse (Gainesway Farm, Lexington, Ky.), Alpine Sky (Old Tavern Farm, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), and Emotional Kitten (Denali Stud, Paris, Ky.) – are participating in Season 3 and their progress can be viewed on their individual pages.
In addition to the live cameras, Foal Patrol Season 3 features an educational blog, information on horse anatomy and pedigree, horse behavior, nutrition, and links to racing industry resources. For more information about Foal Patrol, please contact Sheileen Landrey at slandrey@racingmuseum.net.
MUSEUM COLLECTION
The #HistoryThroughArt series can be found on the Museum’s Facebook page. It features artwork from the Museum collection and shares additional resources that racing fans can access online to learn more about the subjects. The first piece in the series, a 1937 portrait of Hall of Fame member Seabiscuit by renowned artist Franklin Brooke Voss, is now available.
The Museum’s Facebook page also features the popular #TreasureOfTheVaultTuesday, which showcases items from the Museum collection that are generally not accessible to the public. For more information about the Museum’s collection, please contact Victoria Reisman at vreisman@racingmuseum.net.
3rd GRADE STEM
The Museum has also developed a 3rd Grade STEM packet that is free to download. It can be accessed at: https://drive.google.com/openid=19zYHr9rAk_MvLU6Z5jbDG8g3xRRtJfJw. The packet includes equine-themed 3rd grade science lessons and activities that meet New York state education standards.

The Museum is also inviting children of any age to join its virtual Student Art Show, which will be showcased across its social media platforms. Send an image of your child’s equine-themed art piece and include the child’s name, age, hometown, and what they love most about horses.
