Mountaineer And The Questions We Need Answers To

October 16, 2019

REVISED

It would be surprising if there are many racing fans by now who are not aware of recent developments and allegations at Mountaineer Racetrack. A police report regarding the dumping of a dead horse in a local landfill and the mystery of the why, how, who and what it was that led to it being discarded in such a fashion.

As things turn out, the horse was Bridget Moloney who was reportedly euthanized at Mountaineer Racetrack following her taking a bad step during the running of a turf race on September 25. Owner Vickie L. Stewart and trainer Loren Craig Cox are listed as Bridget Moloney’s connections for that race. According to an article in Thoroughbred Daily News trainer Cox was incredulous as to how the horse wound up where it did.

This brings us to the question of what happens and what are the protocols for disposing of horses who are deceased, and do we need to possibly change them.
