Delaware Park Racing News & Notes
WILMINGTON, Del.— Live Oak Plantation’s Mischief in Motion posted a front running score in the $151,500 Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park today.
With Angel Cruz aboard, the 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief won by 3 1/2-lengths and returned $12.40 as the fifth choice in the field of eight. The 5-to-2 favorite, Don’t Jinx It, with Vincent Cheminaud, ran second. It was another half-length farther back to Ambaya, with Jaime Rodriguez, in third.
Mischief in Motion cut early fractions of :51.35 for a half mile and 1:16.65 for the three-quarters mile before completing the mile and an eighth over a soft turf course in 1:51.99.
Jockey Angel Cruz applied tactics he learned from winning an earlier turf race to his approach in the Christiana.
“Obviously, I won the earlier turf race on the lead and Mike (Trombetta) did not call me today for pre-race instructions, so I just took the momentum,” said winning rider Angel Cruz. “She broke good, so I decided not take anything away from her. I slowed it down and she responded really well.”
The Kentucky-bred trained by Michael Trombetta raised her career record to three wins from eight starts with earnings of $166,600.

The Kentucky-bred trained by Horacio De Paz cut early fractions of :22.74 for the quarter mile and :46.42 for the half mile before completing the six furlongs in 1:11.35 over a fast main track.
“When we got to the three-eighths pole, I was watching the four horse (Alani) and once she got next to me, I let her go,” said winning rider Jamie Rodriguez. “She was waiting a little bit, but once the four horse (Alani) got next to her, she really kicked in.”
Striker Has Dial raised her career record to four wins from 14 starts with earnings of $363,572.
