Trainer H. Graham Motion notches tenth career victory in race, second consecutive for Marksman Queen

WILMINGTON, Del.— Trainer H. Graham Motion notched his tenth career victory in the $250,000 Grade III Robert G. Dick Memorial with Cayton Park Stud’s homebred Marksman Queen (GB) at Delaware Park today.
Ridden by Jorge Ruiz, the 5-year-old daughter Dubawi won by a head and returned $4.60 as the favorite in the field of five. The Great Britain-bred covered the mile and three-eighths over a firm turf course in 2:15.85.
Spanish Eyes, with Jaime Rodriguez finished second 2 3/4-lengths in front of Boss Lady Bailey, with Daniel Centeno, in third.
The Robert G. Dick Memorial is the second consecutive victory for Marksman Queen. Previously, she won the mile and a half $250,000 Keertana Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 24. Her career record now stands at five wins from 18 starts with earnings of $382,424.
“It was an awesome performance by Marksman Queen,” said trainer H Graham Motion. “She is such a tenacious and game mare. Jorge (Ruiz) was awesome and did a terrific with her trip. I am amazed and humbled to win this race a tenth time. Some really good distance turf fillies have run in this race, so it is honor to win such a significant race this many times.”
Since the race was inaugurated in 1997, Motion has also won with Sopran Basilea in 2023, Guilty Twelve in 2017, Real Smart in 2016, Caprice in 2009, Rosinka in 2007, Alternate in 2004 and 2003, New Economy in 2002 and Bursting Forth in 1999.
