Closing Day Sunday of Belmont at the Big A Fall Meet

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Double Pick 6 carryover of $86,079 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second consecutive card on Saturday’s 10-race program. The Closing Day program of the Belmont at the Big A fall meet features a mandatory payout of all pools.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $17,056.79 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 5 with a win from Scorch [No. 8, $31.34] in a six-furlong outer turf auction maiden optional claimer with Ruben Silvera aboard for trainer Fernando Abreu.
Jose Lezcano was aboard the next winner with the Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher-conditioned Life and Times [No. 2, $24.60] capturing a one-turn mile maiden, in Race 6. The next race saw Jaime Rodriguez navigate Terminal Velocity [No. 5, $37.56] to victory in a 1 1/16-mile New York-bred turf allowance for trainer Lisa Bartkowski, in Race 7.
In Race 8, Sahin Civaci closed aboard Three B’s [No. 8, $27.46] to lead a Linda Rice-trained exacta in a seven-furlong starter allowance. In Race 9, the Listed Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship, Dancing Buck [No. 7, $11.70] prevailed on the front end for trainer Michelle Nevin and jockey Luis Rivera, Jr.
With the carryover guaranteed heading into the Race 10 finale, a one-mile turf allowance, the Hall of Famer Bill Mott-trained Capitol Hill [No. 10, $5.84] rallied to victory under Civaci, who won his third race on the card.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 6 at approximately 1:52 p.m. Eastern. The 11-race card features the Listed Turnback the Alarm in Race 1, the Grade 3 Forty Niner in Race 4, the Grade 2 Red Smith in Race 7 and the Grade 3 Bold Ruler in Race 9. First post is 11:35 a.m. Eastern.
