WILMINGTON, Del.— William B. Bayne Jr.’s Magic Wallet posted an impressive win the $75,000 Dover Stakes at Delaware Park today.

With Victor Carrasco aboard, the 2-year-old son of Divining Rod closed from off the pace and won by 2 3/4-lengths. The Maryland-bred conditioned by Claudio Gonzalez returned $4.80 as the favorite in the field of six. Majestic Blue, with Carol Cedeno, cut early fractions of :23.01 for the quarter-mile and :46.52 for the half-mile before finishing second. It was a nose farther back to Blue Forty Two, with Gabriel Maldonado, in third. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:12.07 over a good main track.

“He acts like an older horse with everything does,” said winning trainer Claudio Gonzalez. “In the morning with galloping and in barn, he just acts like an older horse. We have always really liked him and today he showed he could be a good one. I also think distance will not be a problem for him.”

This was the second victory from as many starts for Magic Wallet who now has earned $73,000.

Imaginary Stables’ Jumping the Gun cruised to an easy victory in the $88,750 Blue Hen Stakes at Delaware Park today.

With Julio Hernandez astride, the 2-year-old Delaware Certified daughter of Gun Runner, won by 4 1/4-lengths and returned $3.60 as the favorite in the field of six. The Kentucky-bred conditioned by Andrew Simoff completed the six furlongs in 1:12.00 over a good main track. Sassy Fox, with Kevin Gomez, finished second and it was another ¾-lengths farther back to Lillies N Paradise, with Jamie Rodriguez, in third.

“Since I have had her, she has never done anything wrong,” said winning trainer Andrew Simoff. “She came off the truck from the farm and you could just see, she had it altogether. When she went past the 5/8ths I was a little concerned, but when I saw Julio (Hernandez) stand up, I knew he had a lot of horse, and we were in good shape.”

Jumping the Gun was Delaware Certified at Marlyn Meadow in Middletown, Delaware.
