We have seen D. Wayne Lukas do this so may times for so many years in so many big races. He just fools everyone and in this case even Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens who didn’t travel to the Fair Grounds to ride Bravazo.
Lukas sent Bravazo who he trains for the “new” Calumet Farm in the new black and gold silks to New Orleans from Oaklawn where he is currently stabled to take the Risen Star at a $44.00 mutual. Once again the coach has got himself on the Kentucky Derby trail when not many expected it. Miguel Mena picked up the mount when Gary didn’t come down to ride. Bravazo left Derby hopefuls Noble Indy, Instilled Regard, and Principe Guilherme in his wake.
