Just weeks before the 2021 racing season starts at Indiana Grand Racing and Casino in Shelbyville, the Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance (ITA) will be hosting a free webinar on racehorse ownership titled, “The Power of Group Ownership”. The webinar will be hosted via Zoom and the ITA Facebook Live page on April 1, starting at 7:00 pm EDT.

The webinar will feature managing partners from three ownership groups that actively race in Indiana and around the Midwest. Ironhorse Racing Stable LLC’s Harlan Malter, B&B Stables LLC’s Nate Brannin and Michael Lauer Racing’s Michael Lauer will be discussing what opportunities are available for potential racehorse owners.

Ironhorse Racing Stable has been racing across the country since 2007, but gained notoriety while campaigning eventual all-time money earning Indiana-bred, Bucchero. The son of Kantharos became the first Indiana-bred to compete in two Breeders’ Cups and to race at Royal Ascot. The stallion retired, sound, just shy of $1 million in earnings to stand at Pleasant Acres Stallions, where he has gained a strong following within the Florida Thoroughbred industry and still in Indiana. Ironhorse has raced in California, Florida, Indiana, New York and Kentucky, including a third trip to the Breeders’ Cup with Momos. The group is looking to add to its Indiana stable with 2-year-olds under the tutelage of trainer Tim Glyshaw.

B&B Stables has worked with Indiana trainers Anthony Granitz, Donna Taylor-Hewitt and now Tianna Richardville, racing exclusively at Indiana Grand. They currently have one 3-year-old ready to race at the start of the meet. The group, started by Brannin, was born from Indiana Grand’s own racing club, Grand Gesture. The group recently celebrated breeding its first Indiana-sired foal, a filly by Indiana stallion Elnaawi born at Swifty Farms in March.

Indiana’s leading breeder Lauer has thrived racing homebred Indiana-breds at Indiana Grand for more than a decade. Racing partnerships with Michael Lauer Racing have campaigned multiple stakes winners each year, including 2018 Indiana Horse of the Year The Money Dance. Lauer has stables at Indiana Grand, Churchill Downs, Turfway Park, Oaklawn and races all across the country. As a longtime breeder and owner in the state of Indiana, Lauer understands how to place his horses in races that benefit not only the owner if the horse wins, but also benefits the horse in continual improvement.

Michael Lauer Racing has introduced horse racing ownership to many Hoosiers throughout the years at Indiana Grand Racing.

“These three ownership groups love racing in Indiana, and I have personally seen them grow the excitement for the sport in this state,” says Arszman. “I’m excited to shine a light on group ownership and partnerships as an introduction into owning your own racehorse. Horse racing isn’t just for the rich and famous–everyone can experience that thrill of celebrating in the winner’s circle.”

The event is free and open to anyone interested in racing Thoroughbreds, you do not have to be a resident of Indiana to participate. You can RSVP by emailing indythoroughbred.social@gmail.com

The presenters will welcome questions, and viewers can send them in prior to the webinar by emailing indythoroughbred.social@gmail.com
