Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $600,000
Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Set for Saturday’s Card
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Jockey Edgard Zayas kicked off the final week of Gulfstream Park’s inaugural fall meet with a four-win day Thursday to further extend his lead atop the rider standings.
Zayas entered the eight-race program with a 34-26 lead over Chantal Sutherland, who won Thursday’s finale. Zayas swept the early double with I’ll Finish ($17.20) in Race 1 and Leviosa ($3.20) in Race 2, and went on to post wins aboard Glorious Business ($2.80) in Race 4 and High Speed Stef ($5.80) in Race 6.
Leviosa, Glorious Business and High Speed Stef are all trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., far and away the standings leader with 32 wins.
Gulfstream’s fall meet runs through Sunday, Nov. 21. The 2021-2022 Championship Meet begins Friday, Dec. 3.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $600,000
Friday’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $600,000 at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 20 racing days in a row following a $461,035.47 jackpot payoff Oct. 9.
A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is set for Saturday’s program.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9.
Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Naughty Shirley has the look of a ‘single’ candidate in Friday’s Race 8 feature, a six-furlong optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares on the main track. The 5-year-old Iowa-bred mare is coming off a second-place finish behind multiple-winner Choose Joy in the Oct. 2 Miami Shores Handicap over the Tapeta course. It was Naughty Shirley’s first start at Gulfstream and for Joseph. She was a stakes winner over Prairie Meadows main track during the summer.
