Jean Elizabeth, already a multiple winner on dirt and synthetic surfaces, added a victory on grass to her resume in her first try Saturday to extend her winning streak to six.

The gray 5-year-old Illinois-bred caught pacesetter Girls Know Best in the stretch under Irad Ortiz Jr. won by a half-length. She completed the five furlongs in 55.26 seconds. The daughter of Adios Charlie trained by Larry Rivelli paid $7.60 to win. Jean Elizabeth has won 13 of 19 career starts and has never been worse than third.

“I rode her last time and she beat the favorite on dirt,” Ortiz said. “I was told the filly would like the turf, so I rode her with confidence. Today, I let her settle a little bit and at the quarter-pole, I asked her and she was there for me.”
