Introducing Emblem Stable

March 10, 2019

By Faisal Alatawi

Mr. Abdulrahman Albawardi is a new owner in the Sport of Kings from Saudi Arabia. He has just launched a racing operation titled Emblem Stable. Emblem Stable’s filly, Mesquite, gave the barn their first winner in the Japan Cup (G3) in Saudi Arabia at King Abdulaziz racetrack this past weekend. Mesquite was bought on behalf of Emblem Stables by Khalid Mishref from the Tattersalls sale last December for 14,000 guineas. Khalid Mishref, a strategic partner and racing manager, along with Emblem Stables, will be partnering with Phoenix Thoroughbred Global Racing and hope to expand their operation to include having horses in both Dubai and the United States. Amer Aziz, founder of Phoenix Thoroughbred’s will be working closely with the team.

Aziz Mishref trained the first winner for Emblem Stables. Aziz is a young man and trainer who grew up with his grandfather. His grandfather, Mishref bin Mutlaq is known as one of the best horsemen in Saudi Arabia where he enjoyed a lot of success. To win a race like this in Saudi Arabia so quickly is a nice accomplishment for the new venture. In Saudi Arabia we encourage and support new owners chasing the dream of owning and racing thoroughbreds in the Sport of Kings. We hope to see more like Mr. Albawardi enter this great game and represent Saudi Arabian racing all over the world.
