If you’re here you probably love horse racing, The Sport of Kings. We all do and we all recognize the sport has issues. Most of us recognize that while progress has been made we have more to do. Is HISA and HIWU the answer? That is something we all will decide for ourselves, but we at Past the Wire think the decision should be an informed one based on facts and what is actually being done. We are going to try and help bring some of those to you here.
Ben Mosier , Executive Director, and Shaun Richards, the former FBI Agent who led the investigation and prosecution of both Jorge Navarro and Jason Servis amongst other defendants in the related cases and current Lead Investigator for HIWU both join Jonathan Stettin on Past the Wire TV
The following is from the HIWU website:
“The Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) was established in 2022 by Drug Free Sport International (DFSI) to administer the rules and enforcement mechanisms of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority’s (HISA) Anti-Doping and Medication Control (ADMC) Program.”
The above is not what tells the story. We go directly to HIWU, specifically Ben and Shaun who work in conjunction with HISA to discuss where they are, what they’re doing, how, and where they hope to be and what they hope to achieve.
Is the playing field level?
Are any trainers treated differently?
When will the rules stop changing?
We asked tough questions and we got answers. If you want the goals, methodology, and to know how HIWU addresses the industry issues you are in the right place.
Thank you for watching. HIWU encourages anyone with questions to reach out and ask. We encourage you to take them up on the offer. You can visit HIWU here https://www.hiwu.org/
