High Five / Low Five
Low Five!
It is no secret our industry has issues, and can be very disconnected from reality. Ramon Dominquez recently did some cheerleading, which if you read us you know how we feel about that, and said something to the effect it was great to see the industry working together on our issues. We don’t see it. A total disconnect right there. How is that staggering of post times coming? Cooperation 101. Low Five Ramon, you have a voice, use it wisely.
High Five!
High Five Mark Casse, speaking his mind against clenbuterol, or “bute” and said this: trainers that abuse Clenbuterol are the “Lance Armstrongs of our game and competing against them can be like going to a gunfight with a knife.” Anybody doing more than listening?
Low Five!
Listen, we support racing reform, and the strictest of rules, that said there was an awful lot going on in the stretch of the inaugural Saudi Cup to single out Mike Smith for excessive use of the whip. A lot of times he was just waving it and not striking Midnight Bisou. We didn’t count, but there was a lot of use of the crop down the lane.
High Five!
High Five Maximum Security, Luis Saez, Jason Servis and all the connections! Huge win in the inaugural Saudi Cup, and he had to gut it out. This is one fast, tough, and talented racehorse. Midnight Bisou deserves a shout out as well. Huge race against the boys to finish second up the rail.
Low Five!
We support the racing reform and drug free efforts in California. That said, no electrolytes prior to a race once a horse is entered seems foolhardy. CHRB what are you thinking? Low Five…..
High Five!
High Five Mike Smith for taking down the International Jockey Challenge in Saudi Arabia… “he ain’t done yet!”
High Five!
It’s tough to win one stake let alone four run consecutively. Deshawn Parker hit a grand slam on Saturday night at Sam Houston. Deshawn won all four stakes on the program, preps for next month’s Texas Champions Day. High Five Deshawn!
High Five!
High Five Frankie Dettori for playing a beautiful game of catch me if you can going wire to wire in the mile and a quarter Betway Winter Derby Stakes aboard Dubai Warrior for John Gosden. That was a picture perfect speed ride over the long distance. High Five Manny Franco, a five win day at the Big A.
Low Five!
The delay the other day at Aqueduct was because there was nobody there to work the timer and photo finishes. The regular guy was on scheduled vacation but they didn’t bring in anyone to cover him. Yeesh! Low Five for that!
