High Five / Low Five
Low Five!
We throw a big LOW FIVE towards Eric Guillot and the whole Grape Soda name incident. No place for that in racing or anywhere else. We also throw one at Ken Rudulph who in our opinion didn’t keep it classy.
Low Five!
Low Five to all the Eclipse Voters who ignored Whitmore for champ sprinter.
High Five!
All the best to Jonathan Sheppard. Class act and horseman. A great career! Enjoy Ireland and the small string there.
High Five!
High Five Mutasaabeq and Life is Good and all their connections. Both colts won their three-year old bows and said hey we just may be Kentucky Derby horses.
Low Five!
This is laughable. The NYS Gaming Commission has decided that whenever recently married Trevor McCarthy and Katie Davis are riding in the same race the horses will be coupled. No such rule applies to anyone else including brothers Irad and Jose Ortiz. It didn’t apply to Marco and Kelly Castenada, or Eibar and Keibar Coa. It doesn’t apply to Corey Lanerie and Chantal Sutherland or any other couples, brothers, owners and trainers. It certainly doesn’t apply to Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle in the UK. Come on NYSGC, do your job right.
High Five!
Happy New Year. All the best to all of you!
High Five!
HIGH FIVE and a big shout out to Ricardo Gonzalez who rode a sharp race aboard fair Maiden to get his first Grade 1 win in the La Brea opening day at Santa Anita. HIGH FIVE to Bob Baffert, Charlatan, and all the connections. This horse might have won the Kentucky Derby and dare we say it, even more if not for COVID-19 changing everything. he smoked the field off the lay-off in the Grade 1 Malibu later on the outstanding Santa Anita card.
Low Five!
No Low Fives now. It’s Christmas. All the very best to all of you from all of us!
High Five!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you and yours from all of us at Past the Wire!
