High Five / Low Five
High Five!
HIGH FIVES! In a ceremony that will celebrate jockeys DeShawn Parker and Luis M. Quinones at Santa Anita, both will be officially honored as the 2020 and 2021 winners of racing’s prestigious George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award on Sunday, May 16.
Low Five!
Having to switch around to watch all the races from Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby day is just silly. Dish Network couldn’t show it even if you had the racetrack package but you could stream it through ROKU or a Fire Stick. Churchill Downs live was on early but blacked out to force you to NBC. Let people watch where they want. And the Twin Spires app doesn’t go horizontal on an IPAD….what is up with that? LOW FIVES
High Five!
Not many if any trainers win the Kentucky Derby with their fourth stringer do they? Not many win the Kentucky Derby 7 times and counting do they? HIGH FIVE BOB BAFFERT! What a run! HIGH FIVE Johnny V for another stellar heads up ride putting Medina Spirit on the front where he has never been passed and going Gate to Wire in the Run for the Roses! Well done! Well played!
High Five!
High Five to all the winners on Kentucky Oaks day. A special shout out to Malathaat and her connections on winning a thrilling stretch battle with Search Results to take the Kentucky Oaks!
High Five!
Sure it is Kentucky Derby week indeed but across the pond Ascot raced and what could be more fitting than Stradivarius winning the 2 mile Longines Sagaro Stakes under Frankie Dettori for John and son Thady Gosden. Unbelievable horse! High Five!
Low Five!
While we applaud and agree with the safety and integrity measures Churchill Downs in implementing for the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, we also have some issues. Check out the video we did on it on Past the Wire TV
High Five!
High Five Golden Sixty, yes another win, how many is that now, she took the Queen Elizabeth 11 in Hong Kong. By the way it is 14 straight and still unbeaten. High Five Vincent Ho who swept the Champions Day stakes. High Five Umberto Rispoli who won three at Santa Anita including the stake on Brandothebartender. High Five million dollar purchase Fightline and his connections who looked worth the money at least at the maiden special level with a dazzling looking performance on debut.
High Five!
HIGH FIVE to Letruska and all her connections. She fought back and came again under a strong ride by Irad Ortiz to win the Apple Blossom over champ and fave Monomoy Girl. Swiss Skydiver was behind those two in the stellar field. That was a horse race!
Low Five!
We might need something lower than the Low Five for this one. Huge Low Five to John Sadler and Hronis Racing for taking Umberto Rispoli off Rock Your World in the Kentucky Derby for Joel Rosario. Umberto earned and deserved the mount and shot in our opinion. Sometimes it ain’t just a business decision, and in this case both are phenomenal riders. Bad call.
