A huge Low Five here, jockey Mychel Sanchez gets caught by TVG betting against himself in races he is riding, and wins some of those races….you just can’t make this stuff up. 60 day suspension as he was obviously trying despite “betting against himself” What happened to the Sport of Kings?

We are not a fan of Saratoga and NYRA putting back the Wilson chute. Yes, mile dirt races are great but only when the track is configured to run them fairly. Outside posts look to be at a disadvantage and we prefer one turn or two turns or even three or four. We don’t like the one and a half turns.

High Five to all the Cal Cup day winners at Santa Anita including all the winners of the mandatory pay-out Rainbow 6. Fast Draw Munnings, Aligato, Legs Galore, Brickyard Ride, and Rose Dawson all got it done. High Five Trevor McCarthy, wins the last 4 races at the Big A on his wife’s birthday to boot, no pun intended!

Carrothers beats the gate, and by rule is not declared a non starter, but Dq’d ……definitely some clarity and interpretation issues here. Non starters declared if horse’s start is impeded or is in starters hands. Refund rule states every horse shall be considered a starter when the stall gates open on the signal of the starter. Carrothers obviously did not leave the gate on the signal of the starter. Low Five all around!!!

Dash Attack wins the Smarty Jones, Derby trail? Hmmmmm, some day a Smarty Jones winner may win the Kentucky Derby. HIGH FIVE Pablo Morales, 5 wins at Tampa Bay Downs! Flavien Prat, 6 wins, 4 seconds from 10 mounts on New Years Day, that’s a HIGH TEN! High Five Santa Anita and The Stronach Group, nice to seed 50K into the late Pick 5 Sunday!
