HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Jockey Reylu Gutierrez made a triumphant return to Gulfstream Park Friday, guiding Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Losecontrol ($4.80) to victory in Race 2.
The 29-year-old Rochester, N.Y. native, who most recently was based at Ellis Park and Churchill Downs in Kentucky, is planning on riding at Gulfstream during the remainder of the Royal Palm Meet and this fall’s Sunshine Meet.
“I’m happy to be here,” said Gutierrez, who rode at Gulfstream during this year’s Championship Meet. “Saffie is one of the best trainers in the world and has helped many riders. Hopefully, he’ll continue to ride me.”
Gutierrez has four mounts on Saturday’s program, including two on Joseph trainees. He rode at Gulfstream with success as an apprentice in 2018 before moving his tack to the Mid-Atlantic and Aqueduct. He has ridden 709 winners while earning journeyman status with stints at tracks throughout the Midwest and Southern California.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $75,000
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is estimated at $75,000 for Saturday’s 11-race card at Gulfstream Park.
First race post time is 12:50 p.m.
Saturday’s sequence spans Races 6-11, opening with a maiden special weight for Florida-bred 2-year-old fillies sprinting five furlongs that attracted a field of nine led by $170,000 yearling Tessellate, a bay daughter of four-time Grade 1-winning multimillionaire McKinzie being unveiled by Royal Palm Meet leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. off a steady string of works at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream’s satellite training facility in Palm Beach County.
Finding Strength is a first-time starter by noted sire Khozan from trainer Michael Yates, who connects at 20 percent with debut runners. Trainer Gary Jackson entered the pair of Lady Chance and Rogue Runner, respectively second and third in a similar spot going 4 ½ furlongs June 20 at Gulfstream. Lady Chance is by Chance It, winner of the 2019 FSS Dr. Fager and FSS In Reality, while Rogue Runner is by Rogueish, winner of his lone start in 2018 for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen.
The feature comes in Race 10, an optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up going one mile and 70 yards on the all-weather Tapeta course. King d’Oro is the 5-2 program favorite over seven rivals, having run third or better in 13 of 19 starts including back-to-back wins during the 2024-2025 Championship Meet, the latter at the distance. Navy Cross chases a fourth win in five starts while Stroke of Midnight was a last-out winner sprinting seven furlongs on the Gulfstream turf May 22.
In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The popular multi-race wager last returned multiple $14,191.52 mandatory payouts July 13.
