Some plans have been announced for Gun Runner. The horse had a slot set up in The Pegasus but his connections opted not to have him submit to a mouth swab to rule out equine herpes virus, and he couldn’t participate in the race.
The “swab” can result in a false positive, and they did not want to take that chance and have their horse quarantined with so many races to opt for as alternatives to The Pegasus.
The first option is the Razorback at Oaklawn, and subsequently The Dubai World Cup is being considered. I always liked Gun Runner but his effort on the cut back in The Breeders’ Cup Mile really impressed me even though he didn’t win the race.
