Gun Runner Ends Career With an Exclamation Point

January 29, 2018

Gun Runner went out in fine style under a flawless ride by Florent Geroux to take the 2017 Pegasus World Cup.

West Coast tried to rally and challenge him turning for home but Gun Runner’s burst of speed entering the stretch was more than West Coast could handle and he won looking every bit the champ he is.

Over a track that was playing fair and not particularly fast Gun Runner stalked Collected looking like he was loaded the entire way and went past him pretty easily when Geroux gave him some reign. The splits were 23.41, 46.61, 1:10.21, 1:34.28, and 1:47.41 for the 1 1/8th.

Gun Runner finished 2 1/2 lengths in front of West Coast with another 10 plus lengths back to third place finisher Gunnevera. Off at odds of 6-5 which were pretty fair given his record and the competition Gun Runner paid $4.20.

It’s off the the breeding shed now for the 2017 Horse of the Year and a true throw back to the old time horses who danced all the dances.

Big score for @AmWager customers. @jonathanstettin does it again!
