HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Bell Tower Thoroughbreds and Medallion Racing’s Grand Job, making her second start off an eight-month layoff, opened up once straightened for home and went on to a popular victory in Saturday’s $225,000 Inside Information (G2) presented by MyRacehorse at Gulfstream Park.

The 47th running of the Inside Information for older fillies and mares sprinting seven furlongs on the main track was the eighth of 10 stakes, seven graded, worth $5.675 million in purses on a blockbuster Pegasus World Cup Day program anchored by the 10th anniversary of the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1).

It was the fourth win of the day for jockey Junior Alvarado and third in a stake following Knightsbridge in the Fred W. Hooper (G3) and Destino d’Oro in the Pegasus Filly & Mare Turf (G2). Grand Job and Knightsbridge are both trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott.

Jody’s Pride and One Magic Philly raced together through a quarter-mile in 22.63 seconds with Grand Job in the clear three wide in third. Grand Job ($6.20) forged a short lead after the half went in 45.06, then shook free of the competition and drew clear to win by 2 ¾ lengths in 1:21.41 over a fast main track.

Sterling Silver got up to be second followed by Claret Beret, Her Laugh, Dazzling Move, Beyond Belief, Necessity, Jody’s Pride, One Magic Philly, Indy Bay and Verity. Patricia Ann was scratched.

Grand Job, a 5-year-old daughter of Triple Crown champion Justify, ran second by less than a length to Dazzling Move in last winter’s Royal Delta (G3) at Gulfstream, her only prior stakes attempt. She then won an optional claiming allowance in March and was off until fading to last after setting the pace sprinting six furlongs Nov. 27.

The Inside Information honors the Ogden Mills Phipps homebred daughter of Private Account who was the 1995 champion older mare. The Hall of Famer won the first of her nine graded-stakes in the 1994 Bonnie Miss (G2), now run as the Gulfstream Park Oaks.

$225,000 Inside Information presented by MyRacehorse (G3) Quotes

Winning jockey Junior Alvarado (Grand Job): “It’s been an amazing day. I’ve been on very live horses, good horses that I’ve been riding. This filly today, she’s been ready for quite a while She was ready for me today, and I was just a passenger.”

Winning trainer Bill Mott (Grand Job): “We always felt she had it in her. You could see from Knightsbridge’s form and her form, when they won early on, they were probably uncontested. Coming out of maidens and one-other-thans, they looked pretty good. Now that they’ve had time, they’ve looked that good against stakes quality. It was good see. It’s just had to do with her development.”

Thanks Jon, great stuff as usual. I could listen to you talk about horses every day for as long as you can talk! Grazie and good luck to you!
