The fourth season of the Pegasus World Cup will kick off on January 25 at Gulfstream Park, Florida. The most exciting part is that the Stronach Group sets the purse to three million US dollars. What’s more, only the best Thoroughbred horses around the world are only invited to join the race.
The Stronach Group has officially released the invitees for the 2020 Pegasus World Cup Invitational. Seventeen horses get invited to grace the said horse racing event. Thirteen of these racers are the official ones, and the other four names are reserved, runners.
It’s still two more weeks before the 2020 Pegasus World Cup, yet a lot of reviews, analysis, and reports are already out showing the possible horse entrants that can win the Pegasus crown this year. That said, let’s take a quick look at some entries of the latest Pegasus race 2020 and see how their odds look like in quest for the title.
Bravazo
Things have changed for the Pegasus early analysis as Bravazo takes the lead two weeks before the competition. This horse has a strong racing record with earnings of around $2 million. He gained this through participating in a series of Stakes races, including Travers, Haskell Invitational, Preakness, and Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. He placed fourth in last year’s edition of the Pegasus Stakes and will try his luck again this year.
Higher Power
Higher Power was a Grade 1 Pacific Classic Stakes winner who made a signature victory at Del Mar. He took part in last year’s Awesome Again Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Classic, but he failed to achieve any places. Higher Power’s trainer, John Sadler, is aiming for the best this year, starting from making it through the line-up for the 2020 Pegasus World Cup.
Omaha Beach
Omaha Beach is a sure superstar for the 2020 Pegasus World Cup. He was one of the crowd’s favorites and was enlisted to be one of the potential winners of Pegasus this year. He has an outstanding racing record tallying four major horse racing titles in 2019. His achievements include his victories in the Rebel Stakes, Arkansas Derby, Santa Anita Derby, and Malibu Stakes.
Diamond Oops
Initially, Diamond Oops was one of the reserved invitees for the 2020 Pegasus World Cup until now. He replaced McKinzie, who withdrew to run in Pegasus to prepare for the Saudi Cup, and officially became a part of the invitation list. He also shows impressive records. Most of his achievements also took place at Gulfstream Park, where 2020 Pegasus will also take place.
Seeking the Soul
Seeking The Soul is a veteran horse that gets invited once again in the 2020 Pegasus World Cup. He had been running in the said racing show for quite some time, yet he has failed to place. He is a six-year-old Thoroughbred who carries a current June’s Stephen Foster title. He’ll be attempting to make another run in the Pegasus and hopefully get the crown this year.
Mr. Freeze
Mr. Freeze was also included in the 2020 Pegasus World Cup Turf’s invitation list. He won the Grade 3 Ack Ack Stakes and Grade3 West Virginia Derby. He might be one of the entries with the lowest earnings this year, but his recent achievements earned him a ticket to be part of the Pegasus showdown this year.
Spun To Run
Among the 2020 Pegasus World Cup invitees, Spun To Run is one of two horses who ran in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile last year. His win, which led him to get invited for Pegasus should provide an interesting rematch. Spun to Run faced Maximum Security in the Cigar Mile but failed to chase the latter. They will meet again in the next two weeks, and everyone is hoping to see a rematch.
Maximum Security
Maximum Security was the 2019 Kentucky Derby winner but, he was disqualified. He has had tough 2019season battling health issues and has fought very hard to regain the limelight which potentially put him squarely as top 3 year old horse of 2019. Fortunately, he won several horse racing titles, including the Cigar Mile.
Takeaway
Roadster, Tax, True Timber, War Story, Gift Box, Math Wizard, Magic Wand, and Mucho Gusto are some of the 2020 Pegasus World Cup invitees that will also run at Gulfstream Park on January 25.
The odds for the 2020 Pegasus World Cup is still tentative. We are still two weeks away before the racing starts. However, this may serve as your basis in choosing your bet for the upcoming Pegasus race. Make sure that you get updated with the current body conditions of all the seventeen entries.
