Game of Silks – Reflections, Week of 8/21/23

Have you minted a horse yet in the Game of Silks?  If not, why not?  Now’s the time to become part of the most exciting Fantasy Thoroughbred Horse Racing game where you own a digital ‘twin’ of real, live thoroughbred racehorses.  And – you earn rewards for the earnings while cheering them on to victory!  

Each week, we recap the thrilling action from the prior week’s races that offered purses of $50,000 or more.  As you look at the list at the bottom of the page, please notice that there are still several horses available to be minted that could be yours, earning you rewards.  As usual, there was plenty of action to cover, so let’s get right to it.

The 8^th race at Monmouth Park on Saturday was the one mile, $200,000 Sapling Stakes and it did not disappoint.  Two Saratoga shippers found themselves locked in a battle on the far turn – Dornoch (owned in Silks by House of Fred Top10) and Noted (Whirlaway Farms).  Dornoch held the lead as they straightened away for the stretch run, but Noted was on the outside and continued to steady gain ground on his foe, eventually catching him by the 1/16^th pole and powering to the victory by one length.  Dornoch was second, nine lengths in front of the third place finisher.  The final time was 1:38.91, giving Noted an excellent 88 Equibase Speed Figure.

To acknowledge this big victory, we are awarding our prestigious ‘Game of Silks Owner of Week’ honor to Whirlaway Farms.  However, we also want to recognize two former winners – Charbo and Vshakerfarms – for their dual wins this past week.  Well done – congrats to all winners in the Game of Silks!
