The Game of Silks is at it again making terrific changes to their website which should create an even better user experience for you. Some of the updates include: a simplified homepage which should make this page more intuitive and user-friendly, a more seamless login flow which now leads you directly to the member’s portal, a revamped races tab for a fresh and improved races section and a temporary marketplace removal as they are working on enhancing the marketplace area for secondary sales. Last week’s Game of Silks Race of the Week was Race 5 at Keeneland on Friday, October 20. It was a five and a half furlong event that was originally scheduled for the turf, but rain required that it be moved to the sloppy (sealed) main track. This one turned out to be an excellent race, even though there was not a whole lot of drama, as #11 Spirit’s Mischief broke alertly from his outside post and quickly commanded the lead down the backstretch. He and jockey Gerardo Corrales splashed through fractions of 22.64, 46.00, and 58.32 seconds before cruising to the wire over four lengths to the good to win in a time of 1:05.10, which equated to a 79 Equibase Speed Figure.
His payout at the windows was $8.68 for all $2 win tickets. The wizard of Keeneland two-year-olds – Wesley Ward – was the winning trainer and John C. Oxley was the fortunate owner. But the big winner was Alpha Dragon Lair who owns this colt in the Game of Silks. This Silks’ owner also was also victorious in another $50,000+ event at Laurel Park over the weekend which gives me the opportunity to award Alpha Dragon Lair my prestigious Game of Silks’ Owner of the Week Award – Congratulations!
