Big News from Game of Silks, their first Breeders’ Cup races
Silks Press Release
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Game of Silks “Silks” players are experiencing their first major thoroughbred event this weekend when the Breeders Cup Championships events are held starting Friday afternoon. With five two-year-old stakes races being held on Future Stars Friday at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA over $7,000,000 in real life dollars is at stake. Players in the Silks community stand to earn over 40 ETH with a cash equivalent of $70,000 by owning the metaverse version of each horse from series one of the Game of Silks.
The afternoon kicks off at 2:00 pm local time with the $1,000,000 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint going 5 furlongs over the Santa Anita grass course. It’s a full field of 12 with 3 also eligibles in case of a late scratch. Quite a few ‘non-silks’ European runners have come over to raid the North American purses in our turf races this season but there are a lot of Silks owners with big chances to win a nice share of the 5.6630 ETH ($10,000) up for grabs in the opening Breeders Cup race. Trainer George Weaver has 3 entered and all have a big chance to win with Crimson Advocate (Silks owner Snake Eyes Stable), No Nay Mets (Charbo) and Amidst Waves (not yet minted). Valiant Force (Charbo), Shards (V Shaker Farms), Slider (Ocala Racing) and Committee of One (First in Second Out Racing) are the others that will be trying to be in the first four and earn that ETH. Hedwig (Alpha Racing) and April Vintage (Three Wide No Cover) both need some help via a scratch to get to participate.
The second Breeders Cup race on tap is the $2,000,000 Juvenile Fillies going 1 1/16 on the dirt, which has a scheduled post time of 2:40 Pacific. There are 13 fillies entered in this championship event and 11 Game of Silks avatar holders battling it out for 11.32280 ETH ($20,000). The prohibitive 4-5 morning line favorite is the dynamic Tamara who is a west coast based filly owned in Silks by First In Second Out Racing. The second tier of favorites is based around stakes winners Candied (German Drunk Stables), Brightwork (Gibbs Racing), Just FYI (JeffSP1965 Stables), and Chatalas (Alpha Racing). Others in with a chance to get in that illustrious top four positions are Where’s My Ring (Latto Farms), Esprit Enchante (Sunkosi Stables), Accommodate Eva (Alpha Dragon Lair), Life Talk (Cowboy Stable) and Alys Beach (Charbo).
The third Breeders Cup race on Future Stars Friday is $1,000,000 Juvenile Filly Turf, a full field on 14 with two also eligibles to be run going 1 1/16 on the grass. Post time is listed at 3:20 local time for the two year old distaffers to leave the gate trying to earn a chunk of the 5.6630 ETH ($10,000) up for grabs. Like the Juvenile Turf Sprint, there are several ‘non-Silks’ runners with 5 foreign entries as well as 6 fillies that have yet to be minted. There are however 5 Silks owned runners led by Gala Brand (Charbo), Austere (First in Second Out Racing) and Hard to Justify (Ryanblalsosmith Stables) with Go With Gusto (VShaker Farms) and Mo Fox Girvin (Vin Stables Stable) hoping to get a chance to run if there is a late scratch.
The 4th Breeders Cup Future Stars Friday race on the docket is the $2,000,000 Juvenile going 8.5 furlongs on the dirt that has 10 horses competing for the 11.32280 ETH ($20,000) available. The undefeated Prince of Monaco (5% – 10% Charity Farm) headlines the field which will likely not only crown the two-year-old champion but provide us with the early favorite for next year’s Kentucky Derby! The Wine Steward (WMougayar Stables), General Partner (Spiced Turtle), Muth (Alpha Racing) and Noted (Whirlaway Farm) are all owned in Silks, trying to get a piece of the big purse.
The finale on Future Stars Friday is the $1,000,000 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf going 8.5 furlongs on the Santa Anita grass course with an off time of 4:40 PST. There are only 3 European shippers out of the 14 entered in the race and those 3 all come from Aiden O’Brien’s massive stable. There are 8 Silks owned horses competing for the 5.6630 ETH ($10,000) in possibly the most wide open race of the day. Carson’s Run (King Kong Stable) drew wide but looks like one of the more talented two year olds that we have seen this year. Can Group (Natureboy Skip Stable) put in a wild rally in his last to win a stakes at Keeneland, Air Recruit (Internathobo), Stay Hot (V Shaker Farms), Endlessly (Autonomous Collective), Fulmineo (Final Stretch Farms), and Grand Mo The First (101 Championship Stables) all have a chance if they can get a fortunate trip.
Nothing is better than watching your horse cross the finish line first in both real life and in the Game of Silks and Friday will bring those two worlds together once again as people across the globe come together to watch history being made at the Breeders Cup!
Troy Levy, co-founder of Game of Silks, and owner of Tropical Racing had this to say:
This is a huge day in not only Game of Silks, The Breeders’ Cup, and the sport of horse racing in general, it is part of the dream we had for Silks and racing becoming a reality. I always believed it would happen, and that it would be great for the sport, but I didn’t think it would happen this fast, and on this scale so quickly.
