LEXINGTON, Ky. – LNJ Foxwoods’ homebred Gallivant ran by favored Spun D M C in the stretch and drew away to a 6-length victory in the $250,000 Bowman Mill for 2-year-olds on Saturday’s final day of the Keeneland Fall Meet.
Ridden by Luan Machado for trainer Ben Colebrook in his second race of the Fall Meet, Gallivant covered 6 furlongs in 1:11.17.
Gallivant paid $6.72 and $3.34. Runner-up Spun D M C, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr, returned $2.90. There was no show wagering.
Super Kick and Heartily completed the order of finish.
Gallivant earned $155,000 for the win for his first win in two starts. He has bankrolled $165,037.
A Kentucky-bred colt by Into Mischief, Gallivant is out of the Munnings mare Fancy Dress Party. Colebrook trained Fancy Dress Party to win Keeneland’s Beaumont (G3) Presented by Keeneland Select in 2019.

Luan Machado (winning rider of Gallivant): “After the first furlong, I felt like it set up pretty good for me. He left the gate pretty quick, but I didn’t want to make the lead. That’s how it set up for me — perfect.”
Ben Colebrook (winning trainer): “He ran really well first time out (when third in a maiden special weight at Keeneland Oct. 4). He got beat by a monster in (trainer Todd Pletcher’s horse Local Knowledge), and then (trainer Dale Romans’ horse Rockies Balboa) passed us after we got passed. So I was happy with the way he ran. I thought this race made sense. We like to run at Keeneland from our stall, not have to go to Churchill, so I just said, ‘Why not?’ It wasn’t coming up like a real big field, and the owners (LNJ Foxwoods) have the dam (Fancy Dress Party), so any time you can get black type, it’s a big deal. We’re excited, and he really showed his stuff today.”
Irad Ortiz Jr. (rider of runner-up and beaten favorite Spun D M C): “He broke so good out of there. He started slowing down, but I didn’t want to be in his way either. I think he’s doing good. He kept fighting at the end. He never gave up. This is only his second start, and I think he has a great mind. He’s right there. I think he has the abilities. He’s a nice horse.”
Jockey Luis Saez (rider of third-place finisher Super Kick): “It was a good trip. We broke pretty well. The speed went in front, and I was following, but at the top of the stretch that was all he could give me. “
