The excellent card Gulfstream Park put on for Fountain of Youth day, anchored of course by the Fountain of Youth stakes, brought in a record breaking handle.
This while the racing industry was abuzz over Florida Senate Bill 8, which would make ADWs in Florida, which would have guaranteed the record for handle would not have been broken. A perfect example of build it and they will come. Great cards and competitive racing drive handle, but people need convenient ways by which to wager.
No ADWs will not increase attendance and will only lower handle and desperately needed revenue for the industry. That said, Gulfstream put on a great card and first class event.
